Thoughts and ideas!

It seems to be true that low pressure favors creativity, or in other words, a relaxed mind is more likely to produce a valuable idea   according to Jonah Lehrer.

And in fact when people believe they are more creative under pressure of deadlines, they are not, according to Teresa Amabile.

There are two opinions that converge!

Do you think time is a friend of creativity?

The pressure that the time has on people seems really to have a major impact on creativity, although at first glance seem otherwise.

This means that although there is a feeling of more creativity at that  time, providing creative on temporal constraints is negligible.

It seems to be somewhat contradictory, but is not! The feeling is not the achievement because motivation is one of the factors that interact in providing creative.

When, in an organization, the employees are focused and protected and have a feeling they are doing important work their intrinsic motivation develops and despite pressure with time creativity emerges.

But if collaborators don’t have a focus, or are distracted, they are occupied with small activities and spend their time in meetings looking for inspiration and the result is stress and there is creative thinking.

On the effect of distractions in creativity there is however some complexity to consider and we can analyze it also in an article by Jonah Leher.

At other times without constraints of time creative thinking may develop, benefiting the exploration to the detriment of the resolution of problems because the motivation is not targeted.

Time restrictions can be real or the product of our own ambition and imagination as happens when the money becomes scarce and in these times, for a short period of time, we can get to be super-creative and productive. This means that there are individuals who have a good performance under pressure.

Time constraints mean velocity and the great benefit of speed is that we fail sooner. Failure is crucial to innovation. There is less time spent with the wrong idea and there is more time for new ideas.

Above all the speed, when cause the failure, allows us to liberate the trash we produce and which otherwise would be saved to complicate the management of knowledge.

Think about it!

Stopped to think?

When people believe they are more creative under pressure of deadlines, in fact they are not, according to Teresa Amabile.

Seems to be true also that little pressure is not conducive to creativity.

The pressure that the time does, it seems really have a major impact on creativity although at first glance seem otherwise. This means that although there is a feeling more creative this height, providing creative on temporal constraints is negligible.

Seems to be something contradictory! The feeling is not held because motivation is one of the factors that interact in this scenario.

For example, when there is time pressure and creative thinking in a particular project, means that employees of an organization are focused and protected and have a feeling they are doing important work giving rise to intrinsic motivation.

When developers do not have focus, are distracted, are occupied with small activities and spend their time in meetings looking for inspiration there is stress and there is no creative thinking.

At other times without constraints of time creative thinking develops, but the collaboration focuses on one person, instead of several, benefiting the exploitation to the detriment of the resolution of problems because the motivation is not targeted.

But even without pressure of time when the level of collaborative work is reduced, despite many meetings with several people, there is little motivation for creativity.

Time restrictions can be real or the product of our own ambition and imagination as happens when the money becomes scarce and in these times, for a short period of time, we can get to be super creative and productive. This means that there are individuals who have a good performance under pressure.

One of the advantages of time restrictions is to prevent the trap from perfectionism. However, be sufficiently good and think that is better than nothing, does not allow us to achieve excellence.

The speed of creativity is an approach of type: “Prepare! Ready? Begin! “

The great benefit of speed is that we fail sooner. Failure is crucial to innovation. There is less time spent with the wrong idea and there is more time to work with the right cerebral hemisphere.

Above all the speed, when cause the failure, allows us to liberate the trash we produce and which otherwise would be saved to complicate the management of knowledge.

Keep it because we have invested much time of our lives doesn’t saves time in the future, only delays what is able to walk.

What do you think of this?
